- Google Cloud pledged $750 million to fund AI training and deployment for its 120,000-member partner ecosystem, the hyperscaler said Wednesday, during the Google Cloud Next 2026 conference in Las Vegas. The money will be used to provide incentives for and support to global consultants, systems integrators, software developers and channel partners, according to the announcement.
- The initiative will equip Accenture, Capgemini, Cognizant, Deloitte and several other large GSIs with forward-deployed engineering to address technical challenges. It will also help a handful of firms, including Altimetrik, Artefact, Covasant, Deepsense and Distyl.ai, launch practices around the Gemini Enterprise agentic AI platform launched in December.
- “Google Cloud’s partners … have become important channels for distributing AI technologies,” Kevin Ichhpurani, global partner ecosystem president at Google Cloud, said in the announcement. “With this expanded funding, we will be able to dedicate new resources and technology to support our partners as they accelerate our mutual customers’ agentic AI journeys.”

Google Cloud’s channel mobilization efforts are part of a broader campaign to dominate the market for generative AI and its agentic sidekick. The millions of dollars the company is spending to motivate partners are dwarfed by billions of dollars in AI compute capacity investments.
This year alone, Google expects to pour up to $185 billion into capital investments. The majority of Q1 capex spending went into servers, networking and data centers, Google SVP and CFO Ana Ashkenazi said during a February earnings call.
While a majority of AI spending skirted the channel last year, following a circuitous route around model builders, hyperscalers and hardware manufacturers, Google Cloud is clearing a potentially lucrative pathway for its partners.
The company rebuilt its partner program from the ground up with co-selling, post-sales services and collaborative software development in mind and an eye on cloud-based AI adoption. In the leadup to the program’s six-month rollout, which began in December, Google outfitted its partner portal with AI tools to streamline transaction documentation and processes.
“To date, Google Cloud has one of the most advanced visions in the industry on how AI tools will support its partner program end-to-end,” analyst firm Omdia, a Channel Dive sister company, said in a February report.
Google Cloud also recruited industry veteran David Smith to fill the role of channel chief and head of partner programs in March. Smith, who previously spent 27 years at Microsoft and headed up the software giant’s channel operation, was tasked with leading an “agentic transformation,” the company said in an email shortly after his appointment.
The introduction of agentic tools hasn’t gone unnoticed by partners. The tools have allowed Promevo, a Google-first managed service provider, to focus more on business and less on administrative work, Joe Henderson, head of alliances for cloud and AI at Promevo, told Channel Dive.
“There's a lot more automation, which makes it easier to manage from an admin perspective,” Henderson said.
Part of the $750 million partner fund will go toward AI value assessment and agent prototyping tools, per the Wednesday announcement. Google Cloud will also invest in agent-building projects to further populate its Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform and give select partners — Accenture, Bain and Company, BCG, Deloitte and McKinsey — early access to new Gemini models.
